Who

So this is my personal training blog and a good place to start is always an introduction. I’m usually known as Moz. Originally hailing from Wigan, I’ve had the good fortune to live and travel quite widely, from China to the Middle East.

I’m in the British army as a sapper of the Royal Engineers. I’m brand new, only been in a year and still in training. The Engineers require you to have a trade, and mine is one of the longest courses as an electrician. It’s a good trade, though I am unlikely to get to use it while in the army.

Sappers specialise in combat engineering, everything from building bridges to providing fresh water. This is what I will mostly be doing over my career. As you can imagine it’s a very physical job, requiring a lot of strength and conditioning.

That’s where this blog comes in. While the army provide a great environment to be fit, a lot of the responsibility is on us to work for it. The army want robust, strong and motivated soldiers. As a new soldier I know that I am not there yet, and want to document that journey to becoming ‘fighting fit’.
